Find With Camas People Search

Camas answers to Clark County for most official paperwork, since the county seat sits west in Vancouver. A Camas people search turns up phone listings tied to a name, plus email addresses and public records from those county files. For anyone who drifted beyond southwest Washington, nationwide databases keep the search moving.

Offices Behind Camas People Records

Camas City Hall keeps municipal administration, council and city disclosure records. Clark County holds many person-linked sources because Vancouver, not Camas, is the county seat. The Auditor records deeds, liens and marriage documents. The Clerk maintains Superior Court files, while the Assessor connects an address or tax account to parcel facts. Detailed copy methods and request rules belong in the Camas public records overview.

Turn a Camas Address Into Names

The Clark County Property Information Center, or PIC, accepts a street address or tax account number. Its tabs can reveal values, characteristics, sales, taxes, permits and links to Auditor documents. A parcel is the assessed unit of land; its situs address is the physical location, which may differ from the owner's mailing address. That difference matters when tracing a person.

Begin with a Camas street number and name. Open the parcel, note its property account number, then follow Auditor links into recorded documents. A deed can name a grantor, the person transferring an interest, and a grantee, the person receiving it. Earlier deeds may show prior owners and legal descriptions.

The public PIC form does not offer owner-name searching. Clark County says that search is available on computers in the Joint Lobby Self-Service area. This offline option is the strongest official path from a person's name to a parcel.

See the PIC parcel and address fields before searching.

The screen makes the web limitation clear: address and property-account inputs lead the public search, while owner-name access requires the county lobby computers.

Map Camas Parcels and Boundaries

Clark County MapsOnline adds geography when an address is incomplete or a parcel boundary is the real question. The Find Parcel and identify tools link a mapped shape to property and permit attributes. Partial-address searching can help with spelling or street-direction problems. Keep the parcel number because it is more stable than a mailing label.

Camas assigns incorporated situs addresses, but Clark County aggregates the parcel information. City ZIP codes do not prove city jurisdiction. Grand Ridge joined Camas in 2016, so permit and address records for that area can be date-dependent. Older files may remain with a county office even when a current map shows the parcel inside the city.

The county map viewer shows the parcel-finding tools used for that boundary check.

Use the mapped parcel as a bridge, then verify names and ownership in PIC and the Auditor's recorded documents.

Locate Camas Court Records by Name

Court level controls the search. Camas-Washougal Municipal Court handles city misdemeanor and infraction matters. Clark County District Court covers other limited-jurisdiction cases, while Superior Court handles felonies, probate, divorce and other superior matters. The Washington Courts search is a free statewide index. A docket is the chronological list of events and filings in a case, not the complete file.

Use the index to identify the court and case number. Clark County Superior Court also appears in the Odyssey Portal. Public access can identify a case, but document visibility depends on the court, role and record. Sealed matters, protected information and some family or juvenile material will not appear as an ordinary public file. The local clerk remains the source for the official file and certified copies.

Choose the Right Camas Vital Record

Birth, death, marriage and divorce records follow four routes. Clark County Public Health issues Clark County birth certificates for all years and Washington births registered from 1907 forward, along with the death-certificate service it describes. The Washington Department of Health provides statewide birth and death certificates plus marriage and divorce certificates. The Clark County Auditor records marriages, while the Superior Court file contains the divorce decree.

Washington does not treat every recent certificate as an open public record. Qualified-applicant rules govern certified birth and death copies during the restricted period, while anyone may order an informational birth or death copy. Informational copies cannot be used for legal purposes. Marriage and divorce certificates may be ordered by anyone. Under RCW 70.58A.510, birth records transfer to the archives after 100 years; death, marriage and divorce records transfer after 25 years.

Compare the product before paying. An index entry, informational copy, certified certificate and court decree serve different purposes and may come from different custodians.

Search Camas Licenses and Business Roles

A business name can expose a useful public role without proving a home address. The Washington Corporations and Charities Filing System searches entities and filings by business name or Unified Business Identifier. Advanced options add status, type, dates, registered agent and governor information. A DBA, or trade name, does not always represent a separate legal entity.

For occupations, the Department of Licensing lookup accepts a name, credential number, type or location. Other official tools cover contractors, health credentials and lawyers. Treat a credential address as a professional contact, not proof of residence. Location-only searching can also miss licenses whose street addresses are not displayed.

The corporations and charities search illustrates the entity-name route.

Check Current Camas Custody Records

The Clark County Jail Roster provides a current local custody check with a booking-date filter. Its visible columns include the Clark County file number, name, booking and release dates, location and charge. This is a roster, not a complete criminal-history report. Other confinement records can remain confidential under RCW 70.48.100.

For state custody, use the Washington Department of Corrections search by name or DOC number. Federal custody has a separate Bureau of Prisons locator. Confirm identity with age, identifier and custody details when available. Shared names are common, and a charge does not establish a conviction.

The booking-date roster view shows the fields available for a local check.

The date and file number help distinguish entries that a name alone cannot safely separate.

Trace Former Camas Residents

Historical searching requires more than one online box. Camas Public Library offers in-library Ancestry access, Washington Digital Archives links and current research databases. Its digitized Virginia Warren scrapbooks hold named people, events, clippings, photographs and documents. For newspapers, NewsBank reaches 2010 forward, while the Clark County Genealogical Society now holds 48 Camas newspaper microfilm reels moved from the library in 2025 because the library lacked a reader.

The Clark County Historical Museum Research Library holds Polk directories, yearbooks, cemetery and home surveys, maps, oral histories, newspapers and community books. Its collection is noncirculating and research is self-directed. Two Rivers Heritage Museum is the local Camas-Washougal history keeper, though the research did not verify a public name index. Send a narrow request with a person, place and date.

The Washington Digital Archives offers collection and name searching for historical records.

Camas Cemetery Preserves Hidden Links

Camas Cemetery functions as a four-field people index. Its online route searches first name, last name, interment year and veteran status. Prefix searching can help when spelling varies. The cemetery also keeps a complicated physical history: early temporary markers and plats were lost, and Catholic and Fallen Leaf burials were moved into the grounds. An online result or counter inquiry may therefore reveal more than a surviving plot map.

A cemetery match should open several new paths. An interment year narrows an obituary search. A family plot suggests relatives, while a veteran flag may point to military records. Probate files and recorded succession documents can explain how a deceased owner's land passed to heirs. The cemetery is at 630 NE Oak Street, and its office number is 360-834-4220.

Note: A missing marker is not proof that no burial record exists; ask the cemetery counter to check its database and supporting files.

The Fire Behind Camas Record Gaps

Clark County's second courthouse burned on November 24, 1890. The official sheriff history says six prisoners were saved, but virtually all county records housed there were destroyed. That loss can break an expected deed, court or county trail for a person tied to early Camas. It does not mean every item created before the fire disappeared.

Duplicate and transferred records survived elsewhere. The 1871 census is one example. Territorial, state, federal, church, newspaper and family sources may preserve facts once copied from a lost local file. Camas development also began before incorporation: townsite and paper-mill activity started in 1883, while the city incorporated in 1906. Search by the historical government and place name that existed when the event occurred.

Later Camas events create other date markers. The LaCamas Post began in 1908. A downtown fire in 1923 destroyed wooden buildings and was followed by brick rebuilding, so property evidence from that period may show both physical and ownership change. Newspaper coverage is not continuous in one database: Lacamas News survives on film for 1887 through 1892, Post-Record film covers 1982 through 2007, and NewsBank begins in 2010. Choose the collection that actually spans the person's known years.

Historical addresses also require care. Street labels, parcel lines and city limits can change while the person remains in the same place. Compare a directory entry with a map, legal description and neighboring names before rejecting it. The combination can separate a true gap caused by record loss from a gap caused by a renamed place or a source that begins too late.

When Camas Online Search Fails

Online access is only one channel. The Clark County Joint Lobby offers property owner-name searching and in-person Auditor services. The Clerk provides public terminals and accepts supported file requests. Recorded-document copies can be ordered online, by mail or in person. Library and archive collections fill historical gaps that government portals do not index.

For an identifiable existing city record that is not already in a specialized system, contact the Camas City Clerk or submit a request. The Washington Public Records Act, chapter 42.56 RCW, requires an initial response within five business days. That response may provide the record, estimate more time, seek clarification or explain a denial. The law does not require an agency to create a new record or answer a broad research question.

Be exact. Give a Camas record type, date range, department, known name and address. Ask to inspect before ordering many pages, and state whether an ordinary or certified copy is needed. Police, fire and court records use their own channels, so sending every request to the city clerk slows the search.

Use people records lawfully. Never use an address, voter detail, court entry or family connection to stalk, threaten, harass or harm anyone.
